70s
Altomed was created by Tony and Dorothy Myers in Gateshead near Newcastle upon Tyne.

The starting point was the acquisition of the UK exclusive dealership for one of the first pioneering manufacturers of intraocular lens implants, and the worlds first dry-packed IOL from California.

80s
Altomed are the UK dealers for Storz (later to become part of Bausch & Lomb), Concept, DORC and Sharpoint.

First catalogue published featuring the new Altomed instrument range.

90s
Further editions of the Altomed catalogue published in colour. Further strengthening UK distribution activities, winning best world distributor award from Labtician.

Altomed also becomes leading dealers for Volk, Mani and the much respected UK cannulae manufacturer Sterimedix.

The company relocates to Boldon, a town near Sunderland. Peter Myers becomes managing director. Karen Myers is appointed a director.

Now established as the UK market leader for ophthalmic surgical instrumentation.

Altomed help UK hospitals address the serious issue of decontaminating delicate instruments by offering its customized Microwash trays.
