Punctum Occlusion
Altomed supply two main types of occluding plugs
for the treatment of Dry Eye symptoms. Ideal for
the optometrist are the 'external' Punctum Plug
products. These are 'grommet' type silicone rubber
plugs that are usually placed in the lower puncta
(the opening of the inferior lachrymal canaliculi
on the lower lid area). These 'grommet' are easily
visualised when in place and can be removed if no
longer needed. Altomed can also supply 'internal'
Herrick Lachrymal Plugs. When inserted these plugs
dwell in the Canaliculi.
Other dry eye related products available from Altomed
include dissolvable collagen plugs for testing,
punctum dilators and lachrymal washout cannula.
